Welcome to The Knowledgeable Cavy Community

The community where Guinea Pigs come first.

We are a small, friendly, members only community, based around a first-names-terms messageboard. We also have additional features which we will expand as and when required by the members. Our primary focus is Guinea Pigs, though we do have other sections where our members put the world to rights and help each other on a wide variety of subjects. We have a section on Fancy Rats and two of our members have a vast knowledge of these creatures and are able to assist with the day to day care of them. We also have a section on Hamsters and Mice where our resident mouse and hamster expert, Helen, will be only to pleased to answer your questions.

We take Guinea Pig health and welfare very seriously and have two resident Rodentologist Health Advisor members to help with GP problems. We pride ourselves on being able to give no-nonsense, practical and accurate advice. Whether you are a new owner wishing to learn about the best way to care for your GP, or an experienced GP slave, if you care about your guinea pigs, this may be the community for you.

TKCC is a self-funding, non profit making community

Our website has been designed with 3 user roles in mind and the navigation (top left of the pages) will only show the pages each role is allowed to see.

If you haven't registered (or are not logged in) we call you a "Visitor" and you will be able to see the welcome pages, about us, latest news,  the GP rehoming pages, acknowledgements, and a pre-registration contact page.

If you have registered (and are logged in) we call you a "Guest" (free member) and you will be able to see all of the above plus the vets & pets / GP clinic pages, our helpline, our disclaimer, member recommendations and have access to the forums for GP emergencies, help and advice and the Clinic info/appointments.

If you upgrade to a full member, we call you a "Member" and you will have access to the whole site, as above plus the articles, member area and all of the messageboard.

Registration to TKCC takes less than 2 minutes and requires just a username, email address and password. Registration only needs to be done once and once you have submitted your details you automatically become a "Guest" and the pages will be available to you.

If you decide to upgrade to a "Member" the cost is £7.80 per year (yes, per year!) and once your payment is completed an admin will upgrade you to a "Member" and all of the site will be available to you.

We look forward to welcoming you to TKCC

TKCC went "Live" on 1st April 2010. We are self funding and as such we charge a small fee of £7.80 per year for a full membership. As we grow any monies in excess of our expenses will be donated to a rescue nominated and voted for by the full members.

On the technical side, our site is hosted for us by "Host-it" who have an excellent hosting record with virtually 100% uptime. Our site runs on Windows servers with our data stored on  Microsoft SQL databases. Our Messageboard software was purchased from InstantASP with whom we have an excellent working relationship.

TKCC prides itself on the motto "Guinea pigs come first" and aims to give no-nonsense, practical advice for many years to come.

The rehoming section can only be added to/Edited/Deleted by Full Members.

Piggies for rehoming

The piggies advertised here are all rescue piggies looking for "forever" homes.

You may sort the grid by Sex, Age or County.

Clicking "Select" in the left column will bring up a new page with full details for that row.

If you don't see a grid below, no piggies have been listed for rehoming.
